It’s that time of year again (for some parts of the world) — when snow is in the forecast, icicles form and breath is visible in the air. With the winter season officially underway, large swaths of the U.S. are facing temperatures below freezing  — and that means carefully considering your footwear before stepping outside.

In recent months, plenty of stars have shown that colder weather doesn’t have to mean sacrificing style for warmth. They understand that this is the perfect time to showcase the boot silhouette, which, depending on the design, can be a more practical and cozy option amid winter weather conditions. Rihanna, for example, rocked Amina Muaddi knit sock boots while giving back to the Harlem community alongside A$AP Rocky in December 2024; that same month, Kim Kardashian had her Uggs x Chrome Hearts boots on-hand while attending the opening of her New York City Skims store.

If you want to wear a pump, consider adding a sock into the mix for a fun layered look, an aesthetic Meghan Trainor showcased as part of iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball with a pair of black socks and red slingback pumps. Also dressing up for Jingle Ball was Saweetie, who wore a festive holiday ensemble that included a pair of lace-up boots that were white as snow. See these looks and more winter footwear inspiration from celebrities below.
