For this collection, Ambush creative director Yoon Ahn updates the Mary Jane and penny loafer in an unexpected way. “I am bringing everyone’s favorite styles and turning them inside out,” Ahn told FN on Thursday night at a dinner in New York City to celebrate the launch. “So, you will see more fuzzy materials. The loafers became a slide, and everything is about comfort.”

For this collection, the new Ugg Ambush Mary Jane, which retails for $250, features the Mary Jane silhouette comes in pink and white colorways and is covered in sheepskin and finished with metal and leather details.

And the Ugg Ambush Loafer, which retails for $225, is a penny loafer silhouette finished with metal and sheepskin detailing. Available in burgundy and black, the style features a slide-on back for a more casual version of the typically formal style.

“I want the collaboration to bring comfort to the reality of everyday life,” Ahn added. “Personally? I love Mary Janes and loafers and wanted to create a more relaxed version of them with Ugg. These styles are versatile and can match many looks, from casual to dressy.”

The collection is brought to life through an immersive campaign capturing the arc of a school talent show, from its practice, its little life moments, and the show. Featuring a group of four misfit teens in the four-piece offering, the campaign highlights the fleeting, yet vivid moments, of friendship, unspoken feelings, and the awkward beauty of adolescence. With brief but impactful dialogues and subtle details, these snapshots aim to transport consumers back to those raw, unforgettable teenage years, the company said.

The campaign will live on the brands’ respective social channels, e-commerce, wholesale partnerships, and a multi-pronged out-of-home approach with in-store visual experience, digital marketing, and events in key cities.

The Ugg and Ambush collaboration will be available for purchase starting Feb. 21 at Ugg.com, AmbushDesign.com, select Ugg and Ambush retail stores, and select retailers.

No. 21 Puts Bourgeois Spin on Scholl’s Signature Wooden Clogs and Sandals https://footwearnews.com/fashion/collaborations/no-21-scholls-collaboration-wooden-clogs-sandals-1234765485/ Wed, 05 Feb 2025 15:25:12 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1234765485 No. 21 is dropping a summer wardrobe essential, courtesy of a collaboration with Scholl, the shoe brand whose clogs started trending in the ’60s, when French actresses wore them to vacation on the French Riviera.

Designer Alessandro Dell’Acqua, known for his contemporary take on the bourgeois chic aesthetics, reinvented Scholl’s signature wooden-soled Pescura clog and sandal models, adding the Gringo kitten heel often seen in his footwear collection. The two feminine styles feature an oversized golden metallic buckle and studs and are available in cherry red and black.

The capsule collection drops in mid March on both brands’ online stores, as well as at No. 21 boutiques, in addition to select retailers globally. The shoes are priced between $300 for the sandals and $360 for the clogs.

The spring 2025 tie-up with No. 21 comes after Scholl’s recent collaborations with other designer brands, including the likes of Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, Khrisjoy, Y’s by Yohji Yamamoto, Ganni, Eres, Honey Dijon, Issimo and Re/Done. In recent years, Scholl has spearheaded a transformation and relaunch towards a fashion and lifestyle-leaning offering.

EXCLUSIVE: Stuart Weitzman and Sergio Hudson to Unveil First Runway Collaboration at New York Fashion Week https://footwearnews.com/fashion/collaborations/stuart-weitzman-sergio-hudson-ollaboration-nyfw-1234765293/ Wed, 05 Feb 2025 14:00:00 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1234765293 Stuart Weitzman and Sergio Hudson are teaming up for their first runway collaboration. On Friday, during New York Fashion Week, a capsule collection featuring Hudson’s take on the shoe brand’s stiletto boots, booties, pumps and more, will debut on the catwalk at the designer’s fall ’25 show.

While this marks Stuart Weitzman and Sergio Hudson’s first runway collaboration, the brands have previously worked together to create custom looks for Keke Palmer and La La Anthony at the 2023 Met Gala. Most recently, Hudson joined Stuart Weitzman’s dinner celebrating ambassador Issa Rae and the brand’s “How Lovely to Be a Woman” campaign in New York last fall where the idea for the taking the partnership to the runway occurred.

“From the beginning, I was eager to collaborate with Stuart Weitzman, as they represent a legendary brand I’ve long admired,” said Hudson. “I grew up watching my mother wear their shoes, and they’ve always stood out for their commitment to craftsmanship and quality. I’ve enjoyed working with them to create looks for some of the most incredible women in the world — it was only a matter of time that we took this synergy to the runway.”

The capsule collection includes re-imagined versions of the Stuart Power Bootie and Boot made in a range of colorways including black stretch leather, cabernet, custom-dyed green, platino stretch leather, washed vintage denim, plum and blue stretch suede. Fans of the brand will also notice the Nudist II sandal on the runway and the Stuart Weitzman Power pump, both sitting on a 100mm heel height.

Paula Sola, head of design at Stuart Weitzman, said this was the natural step in their ongoing collaboration. “I love that Sergio chose to reinterpret our most iconic styles — sleek and sophisticated pumps and boots — perfectly highlighting how seamlessly our design philosophies align while speaking directly to the women we design for,” she added.

The men featured on the runway will also be dressed in pieces from Stuart Weitzman’s men’s collection, including a sleek Oxford silhouette with a concealed lace construction, and the a modern Chelsea boot with a rounded square toe.

Repetto and Marine Serre Talk Craftsmanship, Sustainability and the Power of Collaboration https://footwearnews.com/fashion/collaborations/repetto-marine-serre-collaboration-sustainability-craftsmanship-1234758113/ Fri, 17 Jan 2025 16:02:15 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1234758113 For Marine Serre, Repetto has always been part of the landscape. The designer grew up not far from the French shoemaker’s historic workshop in the Dordogne department of southwestern France.

“When I was young, I remember with my sister going to the factory store, because I couldn’t afford them back then,” she said. “So I had four or five pairs, and when I wasn’t in heels, I would wear my little Repetto flats.”

This summer, Serre road-tested a special pair: a black Lilouh style that she designed herself. It’s part of her capsule collaboration with Repetto, unveiled in June alongside her signature upcycled looks as part of her stint as guest designer at the Pitti Uomo trade show in Florence.

While the runway show featured a high-heeled sandal, the collection hitting stores on Monday will focus on two flats: the aforementioned Lilouh, embossed with Serre’s signature moon crescent on the toe, in black, silver or red; and the Camille, featuring an allover moon crescent print, in denim, black, white or red.

The red Lilouh shoe by Repetto and Marine Serre.

Charlotte Gaucher, chief executive officer of Repetto, said the collaboration came naturally, noting the two brands have a lot in common.

“I was the one who approached Marine. I’ve always admired her career trajectory, which is exceptional, her universe and her DNA,” she said. “We wanted to merge our two worlds: Repetto’s timeless elegance, rooted in craftsmanship, and her daring, futuristic vision.”

They are both independent family-run companies: Serre works with her sister and business partner Justine, who is administrative and financial director of the label, while Gaucher, a former L’Oréal executive, now heads the company her late father Jean-Marc acquired in 1999.

Both brands were founded by women. In the shoemaker’s case, it was Rose Repetto, who started making ballet shoes for her dancer son, Roland Petit, and created her first pair of city shoes for actress Brigitte Bardot in 1956.

Both also have a commitment to sustainability. Repetto makes 150,000 pairs of shoes a year, of which 70 percent are produced at the workshop in Saint-Médard-d’Excideuil, using a technique that involves stitching the shoe before turning it right side out. The remainder is manufactured in Portugal.

The French factory, acquired in 1967, has been awarded the prestigious Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label, which distinguishes French companies with superior artisanal and industrial know-how.

Serre, who won the LVMH Prize for Young Designers in 2017 and the ANDAM family fund award in 2020, has made a name for herself with her regenerated and recycled designs.

The leathers used for the Repetto collaboration are certified gold-rated by the Leather Working Group, the internationally recognized standard for responsible leather manufacturing. Meanwhile, the denim is certified GOTS, the acronym for Global Organic Textile Standard, and Oeko-tex.

Gaucher said Repetto has been testing alternative materials as part of its ongoing commitment to become more sustainable, but has yet to find any that can rival the resistance of leather. Serre noted that as long as the material is a by-product of the meat industry, she has no issue with using it.

“It was really important to me to use the best quality leathers to make sure the shoes last a long time. For this, I really leaned on Repetto’s know-how,” she emphasized.

“Another reason I was keen to work with them is the fact they still have this factory in Dordogne that creates jobs in France and preserves this know-how, because we’re losing a lot of know-how. It’s truly irreplaceable,” she said of French firms offshoring production.

Serre wryly noted that although her label is best known for its signature MS Rise sneaker, she’s been making women’s shoes for six years, but getting traction in the category can be more challenging than for other accessories such as handbags.

A white-and-black Camille shoe from the Repetto x Marine Serre collaboration

“The shoe business is more difficult, if I’m honest. That’s also why I do collaborations, because it’s not that easy to break through,” she said. “More people can afford Repetto shoes than my shoes, so the idea was also to bring the Marine Serre vision to the street, because Repetto is known worldwide.”

The shoes are priced at 390 euros for the Camille, which ordinarily retails for 310 euros on average, and 370 euros for the Lilouh, which is usually priced around 295 euros. While there’s no direct comparison with Serre’s existing styles, her moon-printed jersey ankle boots will set you back 750 euros, while the MS Rise sneakers retail for 450 euros.

The collaboration will be available in Repetto’s three stores in Paris, its corner at department store Le Bon Marché and online, in addition to selected distributors in Asia and more than 60 of Marine Serre’s wholesale stockists worldwide, the company said.

The tie-up will be celebrated with a cocktail on Feb. 25 during Paris Men’s Fashion Week.

It’s the latest designer partnership for Repetto, which launched its first collaboration in 2000 with Issey Miyake and has since worked with brands including Yohji Yamamoto, Comme des Garçons, Karl Lagerfeld and, most recently, Jacquemus.

Serre has previously linked up with the likes of Nicholas Kirkwood, Jimmy Choo, Melissa, Converse and Salomon.

Here, we have the Jimmy Choo Skye 70 mules, which are emphasized by their thick, cheetah print upper strap and open-back design. Made with patent leather material, the shoes boast a square-toe design in the upper that contrasts nicely against the cheetah print strap. The silhouette is completed by a slender, slightly-curved heel measuring between 2-to-3 inches in height, and in-line with the animal print trends that are typically dominant during the winter and early spring seasons.

Jil Sanders Flat Black Sandals

Up next are these flat black sandals from Jil Sander, which are a great choice to add to your capsule wardrobe for the spring and summer seasons. Emphasized by its vacation-ready design, the shoes come in a versatile black color, and are made with leather material. The round upper is highlighted by an intricate t-shape strap that holds the front part of the foot in place. A slim black ankle strap with a buckle provides ankle security, and the inner part of the shoes features a padded leather footbed that provides comfort for day-long walking.

Khaite Loop Snake-Effect Leather Sandals

Khaite Loop Snake-Effect Leather sandals.

Continuing the animal-print themes typically associated with late winter and early spring are these Loop Snake-Effect Leather sandals from Khaite, which are a stylish option for dates, day-parties and brunches. Made with snake-effect leather, the shoes are crafted with a square-toe design, and are characterized by straps that “loop” around your entire foot for an exaggerated effect. Completing the silhouette is a slender heel clocking in at nearly 3 inches in height.

There are plenty more shoes to check out in the collection, which is live beginning today.

Zendaya-Fronted Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami Re-Edition Spans Sneakers, Mules and Platforms https://footwearnews.com/fashion/collaborations/zendaya-louis-vuitton-takashi-shoes-sneakers-1234750815/ Sat, 28 Dec 2024 01:47:47 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1234750815 2025 will bring with it the re-edition of Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami’s prized collection. First debuted in 2002 in a runway show under the direction of Marc Jacobs, the line was initially put up for sale in 2003. It quickly became coveted with the likes of Jennifer Lopez fronting a campaign while stars like Paris Hilton and even the fictional Regina George of “Mean Girls” wearing pieces. And though the line was halted in 2015, its now being re-released by the brand.

Dropping on Jan. 1, the first of the re-edition will release. It spans more than 100 products including bags, trunks and other accessories. Amongst them is a line-up of shoes. Amongst the shoe styles included is a mule in multiple heights done in both black and white.

Zendaya, who is the face of the collection’s relaunch in a campaign styled by Law Roach, wears the mules throughout the campaign. In particular, she wears the black mule with the multicolored LV monogram all over it. The style includes an open toe and a heel with a flared base. Hers did not appear to include a tan strap accent that some of the mules from the collection do.

Earlier this month, Latto appeared on the cover of Ebony magazine wearing pieces from the original line. In the images, she screams into a pair of the original collection’s mule slippers as if they were a phone. Credits indicate that the mules were sourced from Roach’s personal archive.

In addition to the mule slippers, the edition also includes slides. Some of these designs include pocket pouches on the top. A ballet flat also is included, featuring a Mary Jane strap across the top. Ballet flats were trending in 2023 and 2024. To complete the early 2000s style, there’s also a wedge platform.

Two sneaker styles round out. the range. One silhouette comes in white with the rainbow monogram all over with a contrasting version in black. The second silhouette is all white with an embossed monogram. It also features charms on the laces.

Jennifer Lopez Styles Favorite Pink Dolce & Gabbana Platforms With Sheer Blue Blouse and Low-Rise Denim https://footwearnews.com/fashion/collaborations/jennifer-lopez-pink-peep-toe-platform-heels-dolce-gabbana-1234743941/ Tue, 17 Dec 2024 18:29:08 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1234743941 Jennifer Lopez turned a chic statement look at a special screening of the sports drama film “Unstoppable” in Los Angeles, Calif. Sunday night.

The multi-hyphenate mogul showed off a sheer blue pussy bow blouse, light wash flared jeans, and sky-high pink velvet platform heels. The peep-toe style courtesy of Dolce & Gabbana has remained a favorite of Lopez’s over the years. A pair she’s worn both on and off the red carpet, Lopez sported them on her Parisian honeymoon with Ben Affleck in 2022 and at the New York City premiere of “Hustlers” in 2019.

The “Jenny From the Block” singer tucked her see-through silk chiffon shirt, also by Dolce & Gabbana, into her low-rise jeans featuring a subtle flared leg. On top of her belly-baring blouse, she donned a light blue Gucci blazer boasting a velvet trim along the lapels and front pockets. The look delivers an early aughts-inspired aesthetic.

Lopez recently wore another pair of towering platform heels by Dolce & Gabbana at the 2024 IndieWire Honors on Dec. 5. She paired a shimmering gown with gold metallic sandals for the occasion, which saw her accept the Maverick Award.

In the past month, the “Marry Me” actress has stepped out in various other, larger-than-life platform silhouettes, including Ugg’s popular Mini boots, Elie Saab peep-toe leather slingback sandals, and Ermanno Scervino ankle boots.

When it comes to her shoe style of late, Lopez has also proven herself to be a fan of slouchy knee-high boots, Brunello Cucinelli combat boots, and Nike sneakers. Throughout her career, Lopez has taken on several fashion endeavors, including a collaboration with Giuseppe Zanotti in 2017. She went on to launch a namesake shoe line with DSW in 2020.

“Unstoppable” premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 6. The film follows the true story of Anthony Robles, a child born without a leg who becomes a champion wrestler. Lopez plays the athlete’s mother, Judy Robles.

Awake NY’s First Collaboration With Dr. Martens Is Inspired by NYC Subcultures https://footwearnews.com/fashion/collaborations/awake-ny-dr-martens-lowell-release-date-1234734493/ Mon, 25 Nov 2024 16:00:03 +0000 https://footwearnews.com/?p=1234734493 Awake NY has mastered the art of collaboration and has delivered several compelling looks throughout 2024, most notably its work with Jordan Brand. The brand’s latest effort that is sure to turn heads is with Dr. Martens.

Arriving in early December are two new iterations of the Dr. Martens Lowell silhouette, reimagined by Awake NY. The looks, Awake NY explained, are inspired by “the spirit and flare of NYC subcultures.”

For the collaboration, Awake NY reimagined the British footwear brand’s 4-eye shoe by employing hair-on leather on the uppers, with one look executed in a vibrant green hue and the other in peony navy. Both iterations of the Lowell feature contrasting black oiled leather backstraps, tonal stitch detailing across the quarter and moc-toe vamp, comfort padded collars and gold star eyelets. The uppers sit atop Dr. Martens’ rugged smoke Ben outsoles with yellow welt stitching. For a customizable look, each pair comes with three sets of colored laces.

To promote the collaboration, they brands have created campaign inspired by Cumbia music, which is a Latin American music genre that originated in Colombia and is defined by its African, European and Amerindian influences.

The Awake NY x Dr. Martens Lowell collection arrives Dec. 6 via Drmartens.com and Awakenyclothing.com, as well as the Awake NY store in New York City and at select retailers. The shoes retail for $180.
